Adult Soccer Information Updated 6/25/2010
The official summer league will start on Sunday, July 11th and run through Sunday, August 22nd (7 weeks). We had discussed starting as early as next Sunday; however, I am concerned that the 4th of July holiday will pose some issues. The summer league will continue the pickup format where we will divide into teams randomly before we play each week, and will be played at 6:30 p.m. at the Liberty Park fields off of Madison Avenue.
IMPORTANT: In order to register and play in the summer pickup league, you must first register online with Mississippi Soccer Association (MSA) for an adult player pass. Upon registering with MSA, you will receive a handsome player card and I.D. number. The cost for registering with MSA is $25, which is paid directly to MSA through their website when you register. The MSA website is www.mississippisoccer.org. If you have already registered with MSA in 2010 for adult soccer, you are covered and do not have to pay anything further to MSA.
There will be two (2) options of payment to SMCSO for the pickup summer league: 1) $25 for entire summer season or 2) $5 each Sunday you play. Again, this payment will go to SMCSO and is separate and apart from the registration fee with MSA.
Similar to last Sunday, anyone who is interested in playing an informal pickup game (i.e. no registration, no cost, no refs) the next two Sundays is welcome to come out and play at 6:30 p.m. at the Liberty Park fields off of Madison Avenue.
In the near future, I will be sending out an email regarding the upcoming SMCSO adult team league that will commence this fall (mid-September through mid-November). Much more information to come, but there will be at least two divisions to ensure players of all skill levels and conditioning can enjoy the games.
